What’s On rules and terms
What’s On is a free place for local people, groups and businesses to share events in their community. These rules keep it real, safe and useful. Last updated 26 October 2026.
What you can add
- Real events that are open to the public, or to a clear group such as families or a club’s members, taking place in the UK.
- Bonfire nights, fireworks displays, Halloween parties, Christmas markets and lights switch-ons, New Year events, fairs, fundraisers, car boot sales, sports, music, family days, community meetings and similar.
- Events up to a year ahead. If an event runs for weeks, add it once with the start and end dates, up to 45 days.
What we won’t show
- Anything hateful, abusive, discriminatory, sexual or adult, or that promotes violence, weapons, drugs or crime.
- Scams, pyramid or multi-level marketing schemes, get-rich-quick offers, or events that collect money under false pretences.
- Political campaigning, party political events or election material.
- Ticket resales above face value, or listings that are really adverts with no event.
- Private parties at home addresses, or anything that shares someone’s personal details without their permission.
- Events that are dangerous or unlawful, such as unlicensed fireworks displays.
- Pictures or videos you don’t have the right to share.
How it works
- You need a free Yapp account to add an event. You can choose to show as “A Yapp member” instead of your name. Yapp still knows who sent it, and may share that with the police or another authority only where the law requires it.
- Every event is checked by Yapp before it shows. We may edit wording for clarity, ask you for more details, or decline an event without giving every reason.
- We may take an event down at any time, for example if it is cancelled, reported, or breaks these rules.
- Location and camera details are removed from pictures and videos before they are shown.
- The optional wording helper uses AI to suggest clearer wording. You decide whether to use it, and you are responsible for checking the details are right.
Your responsibilities
- The details you give must be accurate and kept up to date. If your event changes or is cancelled, let us know through the Contact page.
- You confirm you took the pictures and videos or have the right to share them, and you give Yapp permission to show them, with your listing, on the Yapp website, app and social media.
- Organisers are responsible for their own events, including safety, licences, insurance and anything sold or promised there. Yapp lists events but does not run, check or guarantee them.
Promotions
Featured events, Spotlight, sharing on Yapp’s social media and the business bundle are optional paid extras. They are not on sale yet. When they are, the price and what you get will be shown before you pay, and promoted events still have to follow these rules.
Reporting a listing
Use “Report it” on any event, or the Contact page. Our general terms and privacy policy also apply.
