Arrests made in Leeds as facial recognition van is deployed as another person puts the system to the test

West Yorkshire Police have a Live Facial Recognition van in Leeds city centre today.
And another wanted person apparently decided to test the cameras out, rather than just skip the street.
The force says the cameras run from a specialised police van, with signs on both sides when the system is on. Faces are checked against a watchlist for that operation. No match, and the image is deleted straight away. A trained officer reviews any alert before anyone is spoken to.
