Two boys held after huge city centre fire

Police have arrested two boys, aged 14 and 12, on suspicion of arson after a large fire just after 10pm last night.

It broke out in a building on Market Street, just above Escobar. Some properties were evacuated. No one was seriously injured.

Twelve fire engines were there at the height of the blaze. Upper Parliament Street, Goldsmith Street and Market Street were closed while crews worked through the night.

Both boys remain in custody. A fire investigation is under way, and crews were still checking for hot spots this morning.
