Coroner recommendations following fatal house fire in Heckmondwike that killed dad and his daughter, 9

Ahmed, 38, and Manahal Ahmed died after a blaze at their home in June 2025. An inquest found it was more likely than not the fire started in a Hoover condenser tumble dryer in the kitchen.

Coroner Martin Fleming has called for a ban on sales of the model while safety checks are done. He warns up to 1.6 million Hoover and Candy condenser or vented dryers may share the same fatal fire risk.
