Turn on your Yapp alerts
Yapp tells you about breaking news near you as it happens. That only works if alerts are switched on for the Yapp app on your phone. It takes about a minute.
Why it matters. Without alerts you only find out when you open the app. With them, you hear about things like road closures, fires and major incidents near you straight away.
Switch them on
Pick your phone. You do this in your phone’s own settings, not on the website.
iPhone
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap Yapp (or tap Notifications, then Yapp).
- Tap Notifications and switch Allow Notifications on.
- Tick Lock Screen, Notification Centre and Banners so you see them.
- Open the Yapp app once to check it is happy.
Android
- Open the Settings app on your phone.
- Tap Apps, then find and tap Yapp.
- Tap Notifications and switch All Yapp notifications on.
- Back on the Yapp screen, tap Battery and choose Unrestricted or Not optimised, so alerts are not held back.
- Open the Yapp app once to check it is happy.
Still not getting them?
Quiet modes
Do Not Disturb, Focus and Sleep modes silence alerts. Add Yapp to the apps that are allowed through, or turn the mode off.
Low power mode
Battery saver can delay alerts. Switch it off for a moment to test.
Not signed in
Alerts follow your Yapp account. Open the app and check you are signed in with the same email you use here.
